Are you a millennial? Like it or not, you might be. It’s a roughly defined group, but on Thursday, the Pew Research Center tried to impose some order on the chaos. If you were born between 1981 and 1996, the group said, it will consider you a millennial. How Do Millennials Spend Their Money?
Social media often depicts millennials as spending much of their money on avocado toast and tiny houses. But a recent study from NerdWallet found that young adults’ spending habits aren't that much different from other generations. Millennials spent an average of $48,576 in 2016, about 74 percent of their income. Generation X spent 72 percent of their income, while Baby Boomers spent 77 percent of their income. Millennials Show Strong Saving Habits
Millennials are helping America save more money. A survey from the Princeton Survey Research Associates International, showed that Americans age 18-26 have more impressive saving habits than boomers, Bloomberg reported.
