Moderate Alcohol + Caffeine Contribute to Longevity


As she celebrated her 100th birthday last week, Matilda Curcia of San Diego credited her nightly habit of consuming one beer and three potato chips before bed along with daily exercise for her long life, NBC reported.

She may be on to something.

Researchers conducting a long-term study of people in their 90s found that consuming moderate amounts of alcohol or caffeine is a common factor among the oldest Americans, and that movement continues to be important as we age.
